it's overly cautious recommendations by the CDC

The CDC recommends drinking no alcohol. That's an overly cautious recommendation. If the government prohibited the sale alcohol, that would be moronic policy making. Granted with Covid, governments have been more likely to take their lead from the CDC. But I don't know why this needs to be viewed as part of some grand conspiracy.
